Katie and Jarom are engaged! I was driving Friday morning and my wife called me before she got to work. She said, "Mrs. Sidwell has a huge favor to ask!" Hmmmm, I wondered? Her son just got engaged yesterday and is leaving for New Zealand today and they would like engagement photos. I was leaving for Tahoe the same day and was very busy, but for Mrs. Sidwell, anything. Plus, I love having any opportunity to take photos. In case you are wondering, Mrs. Sidwell is my son's kindergarten teacher and was my daughters teacher last year. We love here! So, I of course said yes and here are a few of the great photos we got in a shorter than usual session. I work well under pressure. Time constraints don't faze me! =) I hope you guys enjoy, they came out great!

What a crazy session! Every stop we made something was going down. Cops flying around the corner to bust the bad guys down the street, a homeless person threatened to take physical action on me and my camera, and a badge being flashed at us, to name a few. We didn't go to jail though, a very good thing! These photos have so much to tell and we had a blast. All of the images came out great and these are just a few of my favorites. Enjoy the freshness.

This is the complete family. Our youngest had to be woken up so if she looks a bit tired, you know why. After a few test shots this is what was accomplished. Even though we took 5 or 6 shots, this was the very first one. I have a 24x36 inch white vintage style frame this will be going in and I am excited because its going to look killer. This is not a photography post. This is simply a post to say I am blessed. It was weighing on my heart and mind and I wanted to share. I was listening to KLOVE and a young girl was on there and she lost her younger sister to cancer. She said the main thing she remembered about her sister was her ever so faint, yet loud, snoring. It made me think of my children, specifically my youngest. My youngest because they typically are the ones you worry about the most. My kids are awesome. My newest baby sleeps fairly quietly but she has her little noises that sometime keeps me up or wakes me up. But without that, or her, I'm not sure what I would do. Not having our other two would be devastating as well. The older they get the more we are concerned with, not necessarily them, but with the safety of this world. I want the best and safest environment for my children possible but there is only so much, if any, of that that I can control. God's hands are wrapped around us guiding and protecting us far more then what I could ever offer my family. I try to hold on probably too much. There is so much pain and hurt in this world but none of that matters. What matters is that there is hope and promise. We will see Jesus face to face and all of our petty issues will be no longer! They really should not weigh on our shoulders here on earth either because God is with us to guide us through the darkness and when all is said and done, we are blessed. Only a few things matter in life and we should take advantage of them and live to the fullest. Think of your blessings and take advantage of them, be blessed!

She has had 3 children, ages 6-5-7 months, and really wanted to get back in shape. She has made great strides and we will be doing another shoot in October. They will be even hotter. We started planning yesterday and did a little shopping at Express. I'm her stylist. Jenny + Pieter = Bond Like

Say hello to Jenny and Pieter. These two are awesome people. Everyone kept saying it all day but I already knew from previous interactions with them. They both looked spectacular on their big day and I am truly honored to have been able to capture the memories they will have together forever. The entire day was grand. Pieter surprised Jenny with flowers and a beautiful necklace. The man! He just wanted to coax Jenny down the aisle, but I really think she had no problem doing so herself. I am beyond pleased with their photos and hope that everyone loves them as much as I do. I have so many I could post but I think what you'll see should excite the senses quite a bit, it should be more than enough. However, I may end up posting more because I am so in love with them. Thank you to both Families, Bridal Party, and Friends. You all care for one another so much and I know you want nothing but the best for Jenny and Pieter and it was a pleasure to have shared your joy and deep appreciation for the bride and the groom. Beautiful Scenery

Check out this scene I came across off of HWY 4. This past weekend I took a fishing trip and the night before drove a quad on a forest service road out in the middle of nowhere and this is just one of the sights before me. It is obviously super old, there is an out house behind the closet building that is out of sight. It was just such a cool thing to come across because people used to stay here, probably cowboys, nuts. There were some deer grazing in the back of the buildings that can't be seen. Thank God there were no bears!

Snowy June

So June 5th came! The excitement of the hiking weekend was finally here. A friend and I headed out HWY 108 towards Kennedy Meadows in hopes the weather would let up. We were all packed and ready to take our 8 mile hike into Kennedy Lake, do some fishing and just relax in the outdoors. Not a fat chance that would be happening. As we got higher and higher the weather, obviously, got worse. The rain became slush and the slush became snow. We still had to go another 1500 feet in elevation just to get to the lodge and there had to be several inches already forming in the cool 33 degree air. So, our weekend of hiking fun had been killed and we will have to wait another day to attemp the 8 mile hike into Kennedy Lake!

I had a great time shooting this wedding. We got to stay at a killer venue in Santa Cruz and got to photograph a great wedding with great people. I gave the bride a hard time to have fun and try and loosen her up, but I think it was worth the effort. There are so many great photos and I intend to post more, but this is just a start. It was a gorgeous day in San Francisco, Ca. We went early to the city, hung out and had some lunch, then headed to AT&T Park for the game. We got there at 1 but the game didn't start until 5. It was critical we arrived early in order to get our bobblehead (I'll have to post a picture of that a little later). The masses were crazy and I wasn't sure we would get our prize for getting to the park 4 hours in advance, but we did and we were stoked. The Giants won too. Nataniel's first game was a win. I think he enjoyed the food and goodies he got that day more then the actual game. Needless to say, it was a success and we will be going again.

I showcased my work in a Bridal Faire this last Sunday in Walnut Creek, Ca at the Marriott. It was a much nicer show that I have been to in a While. Introducing Camilla Lisette! She is the newest edition to our wonderful family. We love her so much and have been truly blessed by God in so many ways. We prayed that everything would go well and that God would have his hand upon us all and once again He came through. We don't fully understand why God is so loving, so caring, or so merciful, but he continues to poor his love on us and we appreciate and praise Him for it. I hope everyone enjoys these pictures. They were just a few of my favorites but I own a camera, have some free time on my hands, and love to take pictures so be on the look out for more. This is Jackie and Eli. They got married in 2006 in South Lake Tahoe. It's beautiful there. I am helping them artistically enhance their images. I just wanted to share a couple of samples with everyone. I'm also going to be designing their wedding album, in the future, it should be killer because I know Jackie is down with the artistic style of my work. =) These two images came out awesome so I know their album will be awesome as well. In case you are wondering, I didn't shoot the wedding. I am just blessed to have the opportunity to work with them. I don't have photos to post today but am so excited about tomorrow. I have a family session in San Fran at 9 in the morning. It's gonna be killer. I love San Francisco. You get 4-1/hr sessions that have to be used within a 2 year period. 2 years is a long time for you to decide what you'd like your sessions to be used for. There are obviously a lot of photos here! There are so many more that I could have posted as well. This is Shelby and she is having her first baby very soon. It's a boy and hopefully I will be able to take photos of the baby as well. It was fun hanging out with her and even though we have known one another for a while I was able to get to know her a little better during this session. I know she is excited and a little nervous about their first but they will be fine! One is much easier than two. So have fun and enjoy the addition, I know you guys will.

We drove to Santa Rosa for a weekend away before the new baby arrives and to take, hopefully, some killer maternity photos. I think we succeeded. I of course, could have taken more but the the sun limited our time out and about. Plus Amy said she was tired? Psssshhhhhhhh, please! I mean she only has a baby that she carries in her body. Just kidding, she was a great model and I recalled her only complaining a little bit, once. No big deal! =)

These are in no particular order. There are so many gorgeous ones that I had to limit myself. I'll soon create a gallery on my main site so that way I can put more images of there wedding up. I love shooting weddings! This one was awesome becuase it was a translated ceremony and the pastor spoke in Spanish and the things he said were awesome. He spoke of commitment, love, honesty, and keeping God the head of their marriage. He spoke much truth. Shooting weddings, for me, is fun because of all the beautiful sights but they also help me stay grounded in my walk with Christ and my marriage as well. I hope you enjoy. Her bouquet is gorgeous.

Besides shooting clients maternity photos I get to now photograph my wife's maternity images. We are have a baby girl and the name will be revealed at a later date. The family is not pleased with our decision but we want it to be a surprise. Here are a couple of the wife. We will be taking more early November.

Hohn's Customs Project

Here is an updated logo I am working on for the new site of Hohn's Customs. It is a very large but extremely fun project. I am photographing motorcycles, old cars, and sand buggies just to name a few. I will post images as I take them. They will vary depending on the work they are given.

These were just a few of my favorites. The said their vows in Sonora, Ca at this very cool, very rustic spot. The spot is at The Tuolumne County Museum and History Center. It was so awesome to shoot there. I wish we would have had more time to hang out around Sonora because it has so much character and we could have gotten so many more great photos. But that's the way it goes. I will be posting more soon. I hope you enjoy and please leave some comments people.

This car is so sick. I got to photograph it for Hohn's Customs, a custom car and bike shop, here in town. This is a layout I put together showing some of the detail of the car. I also have some bike shots and will post them soon. This is an on going project for the current website I am putting together for them. It's going to look killer when all is said and done.

I'm sure that a lot of people do not have a chance to look at my blog. For those who do, please pass this around. I have gotten to know a photographer from The O.C. via internet and through a face to face chat. She is an awesome person and she shared many stories at the seminar that I attended. One was about her mother. She, in the past, had struggled with cancer. Well, it has possibly returned. When I had a chance to talk with her I told her that I appreciated the fact that she and her family were Christian's. She worshiped and shared herself to a crowd of strangers. It was so awesome. I told her that I would keep her in my prayers and I would like to ask others to do the same. I know that there are so many things to pray for, but if you have time, I would appreciate it. She is just such a great person inside and out and is real. Prayer makes a difference.

This last one is very cool.These photos were for fun, something completely different than their engagement photos, just a small thank you to them for driving so far to meet me and allow me to be their wedding photographer come July of 09'. It's a while away but I know we will have fun when the time arrives.

April & Matt's Engagement

Today was so gorgeous in Murphy's, California. The layout contains only a few of the photos we captured. April bought her dress at Macy's. It's a pretty killer dress. It was fun shooting them. They were relaxed and awesome models. Matt had no issues dipping April. I think he wanted to see how low he could go. =) Their wedding day is June 7th in Lake Tahoe and every one is very excited for the day to come. Just think what they'll look like in the wedding attire!

Our Family Pet-Titus is His Name!

So I have a 4 year old daughter and a 3 year old son. I have been really wanting to get them a puppy. A lab was the desired choice, however it happened that I was not going to be able to get a lab. So, I was going to take the family to the pound to see if we could choose a dog in need. Then I received a phone call from my mother saying she had found a boxer and I of course said I wanted him. We first tried to return him to his rightful owner to do the right thing. I would want him back if I lost him! So anyway, after 2 weeks we finally declared him ours. He is such a smart and wonderful family dog. I never in my life imagined owing a boxer but I am glad I do. We love him as one of our own. He is one of the best dogs I have ever owned.

The trees in the background create an awesome texture for this image. Obviously it's by a cross, but it's in front of the mission where they will be getting married.
